I was thinking, in order for this site to grow and become even greater than the original there’s a need for new blood. And in order to get new blood a bit of promotion of this site on DA probably wouldn’t hurt. I noticed that some of you caught on to the link in signature suggestion and I think that’s a good start.
As a second attempt at promoting the site I’ve pestered all my friends through my journal and I think one or two were interested though busy (I’ll keep reminding them. ^^)
Other than that I’m kind of out of ideas at the moment, does anyone else have suggestions?

I’ve got to agree that we need to advertise more aggressively. However we
need to refrain from spamming people.
Here are my guidelines:
Subtle links in a signature are acceptable
If you see someone who is begging for comments in a blog/wiki/gallery/etc…
then by all means, suggest the CE to them.
Comment on a ton of non-members galleries in an effort to make yourself known.
Those that come back to comment on your artwork will already be the type we’re
looking for here at the CE and thusly will be more likely to join. Do not spam
these people, just leave comments on their artwork.
Seriously, bug people about the CE and they’ll be less likely to join and be
active. It has to be their decision.
Once our membership is something like 100-150 I’ll start trying to get other
means of advertising. By then, EW and DA should be able to recognize us, take
us seriously, and perhaps incorporate a badge on our profile pages such as
those for bifrost on EW.
I think that covers just about everything. I’ll keep you guys updated. In the mean time, so long as you’re not spamming, fee free to advertise the heck out of this site. If you’re unsure as to whether or not a certain act is spamming… it probably is, so don’t do it.

Much right you are, spamming is not the way to go.
I was thinking about "what kind of people" we want. Obviously I don’t think there are any reservations when it comes to style, medium or skill, but seriousness of comments? Ability to give constructive crit?
In DA terms do we want the people from the Thumbshare forum, or from the Art Scene or both?
Oh, and kind of off forum, but I was thinking that it isn’t quite as clear as it used to be that non members are welcome and will receive comment replies also.

We want all sorts of artists but as far as the kind of people we want… we want those who are going to participate, who actively post new artwork every-once-in-a-while and perhaps even those who are already upholding the CE guidelines. The ability to give CC is very important, but not required. I may make a post or two about how to give CC and perhaps a short lesson in the language of artists as a tool for communicating our impressions of the art.
You might be right about the obviousness of the fact that you don’t have to become a member to benifit. Heck, I’m even fine with people becoming registered users here, but not posting any links. I guess that would make them a member-sans-circulation. We really do need to make that obvious though.

You’re very right! Some guidelines for CC and artistic language would be a great addition to the page. There are a lot of guidelines circling around out there, would you like me to find a few of those for inspiration?

That would be super awesome. I’ll have to scour through a few of my old art books too. I bet we can come up with some great stuff.

I’m praying that the links will work.
And in addition to those links I’ve found so far I’d like to add my own personal guideline: Be interested if you can. ask questions, try to have a conversation with the atrtist about their art. It’s appreciated.
(Also as far as promotion goes I went on a little comment spree last night in the DA thumbshare forum, and it seems at least we got two new members. ^_^ I’ll try to keep the tread alive, hopefully all new members will tell their friends)
